They do what.. you say? YEP..... They faint!
The Tennessee Fainting Goat dates back to 1880 when an old man named Tinsley appeared in Marshall County, Tennessee. He brought with him 4 goats that stiffened and fell over when startled. When he left he sold the goats to a man named Dr. Mayberry.
These heavily muscled goats were highly prized for their meat quality and quantity.
The reason they faint is a condition called, Myotonic. The muscled stiffen up as a body builder would flex his muscles when they are scared. All Myotonic goats in existence today are descended from these 4 goats!
Our goats are all registered with The Tennessee Fainting Goats Association and we breed only premium fainters.
Fainters make great pets as they are very gentle natured. They are easy kidders and rarely have problems with their kids. They normally have 2-3 kids per year and sometimes quads!
They are super brush eaters and great food for your table! Oh, and let's not forget the entertainment!
